Be The Favorite Child: A Guide To Father's Day Gifts

Be The Favorite Child: A Guide To Father's Day Gifts

Did you know that Father’s Day is Sunday, June 18th? If you’re only learning this now, it means you have enough time not to screw it up this year. But finding the right gift for Father’s Day is kind of hard. You can’t get away with flowers or chocolate covered fruit. It screams last minute. This year, try to be the favorite child (you know you are) and get a gift that says, “I really thought your gift through all by myself and was not just inspired by my favorite blog’s gift guide.” And don’t forget, if you’re a mom, Father’s Day means you're obligated to buy your significant other/baby daddy a present too. Nope, no one gets out of this holiday without spending something. Here are some of my favorite Father's Day gifts.

Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker & Aeroccino Milk Frother

Does Dad like his espresso? Then he will love the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker & Aeroccino Milk Frother. I have a Nespresso maker and it's been a game changer for my mornings. This pod-based machine is super easy to use when you're half awake and makes the most delicious drinks this side of Italy. The bundled milk frother is perfect for making lattes.  (Note: This link for Gilt, which is currently selling this bundle at a really good discount, but if you want to see more Nespresso options, check out Bloomingdales.)

B&O Play BeoPlay A1 Bluetooth Speaker

Don’t hate me for saying this, but B&O’s design style is even cooler than Apple’s. This Bluetooth speaker is a great gift for any guy and probably something he would never buy for himself. Because it is portable and made of aluminum, it means no one is screwed when someone inevitably drops it or knocks it off a table. Dad will also be impressed with both the sound quality and color selection including silver, orange, black, and moss.

Havaianas Flip Flops

Go into Dad’s closet and check out the flip-flop situation. Do his look old, worn down or smell stinky? He would flip for a pair of new Havaianas. These flip-flops are affordable, fun and even customizable.

Draper James Collard Greens Martin Bow Tie

Does Dad fancy a bow tie? Get him this sophisticated but fun fashion accessory from Reese Witherspoon’s chic boutique, Draper James.

Anthony’s Perfect Shave Kit

If you aren’t sure what to buy, just remember that all men shave and need grooming products in order to do it without injuring themselves or developing a rash. The Perfect Shave Kit has everything he needs for the (you guessed it) perfect shave including a Glycolic Facial Cleanser, Pre-Shave Oil, Shave Cream and After Shave Balm.

Knit Pony Lounge Pants

Everyone likes a comfy pair of P.J’s. These Ralph Lauren Pony Lounge Pants are perfect for sleeping, hanging around the house or even for a morning dog walk with a little extra style.

Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 8 Instant Camera

Is Dad a little old school or retro? Does he love to take pictures that can’t be FaceTuned or filtered? Then he will certainly appreciate the Instax Mini 8 Instant Camera. It does not take digital pictures, instead, it prints pictures instantly like a Polaroid. Then you can take pictures of those pictures using your Smartphone, upload them and get all the likes.

Uri Minkoff Gary Nylon Duffel Bag

Whenever I’ve given a man a weekender as a gift, he’s always appreciated it and used it for years. Rebecca Minkoff’s men’s line, Uri Minkoff has really stylish and well-designed men’s accessories. The Gary Nylon Duffel has lots of interior pockets and holds enough for a weekend jaunt or a trip to the gym. The camo print is great because you don’t have to worry about the bag looking dirty.

Golf Trunk Organizer

Does Dad play golf and already have every single accessory or piece of equipment anyone could possibly have for the sport? Then he probably needs to organize it. Picnic At Ascot’s Golf Trunk Organizer holds everything from shoes to balls and even those Ikea-wrench sized pencils.

Bulletproof by Justin Peck

Bulletproof by Justin Peck is about the off-road racer's struggle with bi-polar disorder and other mental heath challenges. Men generally aren’t as open about their feelings when it comes to mental heath as women are, so this might be a good way to connect with a dad in your life who is struggling. I’m also a big believer that there is nothing more compelling than a good memoir.

Ranger Up Train Ultra-Thin Vintage T-Shirt

Does a dad in your life need a little motivation but you can’t quite bring yourself to buy him a gym membership? Maybe this shirt will do the trick. Ranger Up is a clothing company run by veterans, which means if the Dad in your life is a veteran, a gift from Ranger Up will be extra meaningful. Or, if you are trying to buy a gift for someone patriotic, this is the place to do it.
